Attach Files to Discussion Board Posts

  1. Select the paper clip icon in the discussion board editor or the Browse My Computer button.
    • The Browse My Computer button will only allow you to attach one file
    • The paper clip icon will allow you to attach multiple files.
  2. If you are using the Browse My Computer button, select the file from your local computer.
  3. Once you have selected the file from your computer, the file should automatically be attached to your discussion board post.
  4. If you are using the paper clip icon the following screen will appear. Use the Browse My Computer button if the attachment is located on your local computer, or the Source URL button if attachment is a link out on the internet.
  5. If you are using a Source URL type it in the box and click Submit. Be sure to include http: and www in the address if applicable. If you are attaching a file from your local computer browse to that file and click Open.
  6. On the next screen you can specify the text that the viewer will actually see in the Name of Link to File field.
  7. It can be better if this is a description rather than the literal name of the file or web link. "Link to Google" is better than "http://www.google.com" and "Paper Number 1" is better than "Paper1.docx"
  8. Click Submit, the link or file is now displayed in your discussion board.
  9. Repeat the above steps using the paper clip icon to attach multiple files.
